Born and raised in Mexico City in 1982, daughter of a native Japanese Director of Photography.
She began her career in 2002 working in feature films, starting this way a career as an assistant director; adding up more than 25 feature films with directors like Alejandro González Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuarón, Gerardo Naranjo, Mariana Chenillo and Diego Luna among others. Parallel to her work performance, she studied acting direction,acting for directors, visual narrative and a Master in Film Direction at the Maine Media Workshops, pursuing thus her intention to direct that was manifested from the very beginning.
Her first project as a director was in 2013, with the series Niño Santo, available on Netflix,where she directed episode 7 for the second season. She went on to direct Amazon’s Diablo Guardian, original series, from which she directed seven episodes between both seasons. Most recently she directed the pilot and first four episodes of Crime Diaries: The Candidate original Netflix series.
Hiromi wrapped principal photography a month and a half ago of the project “Dani Who” for Paramount Channel and Amazon, where she directed the pilot, and four more episodes.
Currently, she has just started prep for a new Netflix original series to be shot in Baja California Studios, where she will be directing the pilot and season’s finale for the two seasons.
“Invierno” will be her debut as a screenwriter and director of a feature film based on an autobiographical event.
